Secret Reason Ryan Reynolds Kept Kids Off Deadpool 2 Set Revealed!

Ryan Reynolds, renowned for his role as Deadpool, has achieved global fame.

Yet, he's cautious about letting his daughters see him as the notorious "Merc with a Mouth." Surprisingly, Reynolds prohibited his kids from being on the "Deadpool 2" set, concerned that witnessing their father as the spandex-wearing, sharp-tongued anti-hero might be unsettling.

Reynolds' Take on Playing Deadpool

In a 2018 conversation with ABC News' "Lights, Camera, Summer," Reynolds shared that portraying Deadpool grants him a unique freedom, allowing him to behave in ways he'd never dare in front of his loved ones. He stated, "It's sort of like a second skin ... Of course, it can be uncomfortable. But I feel sort of free in it like I can kind of say and do anything with impunity." He was particularly wary of his children seeing him with the makeup-induced facial scars of his character. His desire? To head to work looking like their everyday dad and return in the same manner.

Family and the Deadpool Dilemma

In a chat with Entertainment Tonight, Reynolds expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to play such a character. However, this doesn't imply his family can relish the results of his hard work. He remarked, "I love my job. I'm very lucky to get to do what I do... It's a movie that my wife wants to see, and my kids want to see, and I don't take that for granted for a second. 'Cause they will never see Deadpool." He also mentioned that while his kids have been on the "Deadpool" sets before, it was never when he had the scar makeup on. He jestingly added that he didn't want them to need therapy later in life after seeing him scarred.

A Silver Lining

On a brighter note, there's an array of Ryan Reynolds films suitable for family viewing.
