Fans Outrage over Nayanthara's Pricey 9 Skin Products!

Nayanthara, celebrated as the 'lady superstar' of the South, is currently under fire after revealing information about her new skincare products on social media and branding them with the slogan "Empowering Self Love".

After making a significant splash with her Bollywood debut in Jawan alongside Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara surprised fans by venturing into entrepreneurship with her exclusive skincare brand, 9 Skin. However, the excitement among her fans quickly turned to disillusionment once the product prices were disclosed.

The actress received widespread criticism for sharing information about her skincare products on social media and selecting "Empowering Self Love" as the brand's tagline. Despite this, Nayanthara is still reeling from the success of Jawan, a film that has broken all box office records, earning Rs 1000 crore globally and establishing itself as an all-time blockbuster.

However, the launch of 9 Skin has not been as smooth, with many people expressing their dissatisfaction over the brand's pricing, declaring it to be too steep for the average middle-class consumer. Some netizens also censured her for advertising the skincare range through photos and videos featuring her in elaborate makeup.

"A skin care brand promoting self love… has a model in complete makeup… it promotes the model more than the product.." expressed one user, while another posed a question, "Why don't you guys promote the product without makeup to make it more authentic?"

The backlash continued with several users labeling the products as exclusive to the "affluent". One person remarked, "It should be like everyone buys it...but I think it's only for the affluent." Another user commented on the high price range, stating, "Price range very high....not affordable for everyone."

As it stands, only five products are available for purchase, including a nourishing oil priced at Rs 999, and glow serum and anti-ageing serums ranging between Rs 1000 to Rs 1,500. The 50 gm day cream is priced at Rs 1,799, and a night cream of equivalent quantity sells for Rs 1,899.

It's clear that Nayanthara's venture into skincare, although initially exciting, has been met with considerable disappointment and criticism due to the unaffordable price range and perceived lack of authenticity in promotion. While some fans remain supportive, the prevailing sentiment seems to be one of disillusionment, with many seeing the brand as catering exclusively to those with substantial means. Whether this controversy impacts Nayanthara's future endeavors, in film or business, remains to be seen.
