Russell Brand's Sold-Out Show Goes On Amid Assault Claims

Russell Brand's comedy show proceeds as planned even while facing serious allegations. Find out how the venue and fans reacted.

Russell Brand went ahead with his fully booked comedy show at the Troubadour Wembley Park theatre in north-west London this Saturday evening, even as he faces se*ual assault allegations. The gig, initially set to kick off at 7 pm, started almost an hour late, purportedly due to Brand getting stuck in traffic.

The timing of the show coincided with the airing of a Channel 4 documentary investigating the claims of se*ual misconduct against him. These accusations come from four women, whose encounters with Brand date from 2006 to 2013, and include one who was just 16 years old at the time.

Consistently maintaining his innocence, Brand has rejected not just these claims but also additional accusations of predatory and harmful conduct. In an online video, he insists that all his relationships have been "absolutely always consensual."

Reports indicate that the women accusing Brand allege he pressured them into unwanted se*ual activities, even after they expressly asked him to stop. Furthermore, it's been reported that Brand previously apologized to one of his accusers, acknowledging his "embarrassing behavior."

Yet, despite the mounting allegations and their serious implications, the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre chose not to cancel Brand's performance, "Bipolarisation," which is part of his current UK tour.
