Anurag Kashyap's Big Regret at 51 Revealed!

Discover what renowned filmmaker Anurag Kashyap regrets the most as he turns 51. A candid look into his life and career choices.

Anurag Kashyap, the renowned filmmaker and actor, celebrates his 51st birthday today, September 10, 2023. In a recent interview with Puja Talwar, he opened up about one of the most significant regrets of his life: his lack of focus on financial matters.

The Regret of Being Overly Charitable

In the interview, Anurag Kashyap expressed his regret for not paying enough attention to money. He said, "My one big regret is I never paid attention or focus on money. Because of which when you reach a certain age, you realize it is also important. I was too charitable. Those are the things I have to change. And I'm changing. I've to keep track of it. One doesn't want to create an empire or something. But there should be just enough in life."

Money Matters in Filmmaking

In a separate interview with Film Companion, Kashyap elaborated on his complex relationship with money. He stated, "Money is important to me only when needed. The kind of films I do, it's not necessary that they all become hits. People think films are not commercially viable. Sometimes, I've forfeited my fees and sometimes, I've gotten paid when films are project setups by producers or films have come my way rather than me chasing them."

A Versatile Career in Entertainment

Although primarily known as a filmmaker, Anurag Kashyap has also ventured into acting. He was last seen in Akshat Sharma's crime drama "Haddi," which is currently streaming on ZEE5. His acting credits also include roles in Aasmaan Bhardwaj's action thriller "Kuttey," Pushpendra Nath Mishra's 2020 ZEE5 dramedy "Ghoomketu," Vikramaditya Motwane's 2020 Netflix India black comedy thriller "AK vs AK," and the 2018 Tamil action thriller "Imaikkaa Nodigal."

Future Plans and Personal Milestones

Kashyap revealed that he's earning more from his acting roles these days. On a lighter note, he also mentioned that he's considering directing a new film to fund his daughter Aaliyah Kashyap's upcoming wedding. Aaliyah recently got engaged, adding another milestone to the Kashyap family. Anurag's next directorial venture is the crime thriller "Kennedy," starring Rahul Bhat and Sunny Leone, set to release later this year.
