Amber accused of manipulating her ex-assistant's traumatic story. Dive in to unravel the truth behind the accusations!
Amber Heard and Johnny Depp have had a tumultuous and public dispute, with both presenting contrasting narratives and accusations. This has led to extensive legal proceedings and discussions around domestic violence and credibility.
Amber Heard, known for her role as the Aquaman star, was accused by her former assistant, Kate James, of manipulating and exploiting James's own traumatic experience for her benefit. James, who worked for Heard from 2012 to 2015, provided testimony during Johnny Depp's libel trial against The Sun newspaper. The Sun had previously referred to Depp as a “wife-beater,” an allegation he strongly refuted.
James had shared her traumatic experience of a violent sexual assault with Heard in confidence. To her dismay, James found out that Heard had allegedly misrepresented and exploited her ordeal in a witness statement. James stated, “She referred directly to a violent rape that occurred to me 26 years ago, and she twisted it into her own story, and she used it for her own use.” James, a sexual violence survivor, expressed the severity of Heard taking such a stance without having experienced it.
Heard, on the other hand, levelled 14 accusations of violence against Depp from 2013 to 2016, which he denies vehemently. The incidents were said to occur in various locations including his private island, a rented house, and aboard a private jet.
The relationship between Depp and Heard started when they met on the set of “The Rum Diary” in 2011. They married in 2015 but soon after, Heard filed for divorce, which was finalized in 2017. The legal proceedings and public exchanges have ignited heated debates and social media uproar, putting a spotlight on issues related to domestic violence and the credibility of the accusers.
