The Los Angeles Times highlights Isaacson's portrayal of the relationship as a tumultuous period for Musk. According to the author, Heard, who had recently undergone a messy divorce from Johnny Depp, pulled Musk into an emotional whirlpool around 2017. This phase reportedly caused Musk enduring emotional distress and was not well-received by his close circle, who harbored strong negative feelings toward Heard.
