Remember the old excuse, "the dog ate my homework"? For Donato Frattaroli and his fiancée, Magda Mazri, it's a bit more serious: their dog ate the groom's passport. This Massachusetts couple found themselves in a tight spot when they discovered that their Golden Retriever, Chickie, had used Frattaroli's passport as a chew toy, just days before they were set to leave for their wedding in Italy.
The Discovery
The couple, who are scheduled to get married in Italy on August 31st, were left in shock when they found the passport in Chickie's dog bed. "I looked at the dog bed and saw my passport where it shouldn't have been. I completely freaked out," said Frattaroli. The realization was both surprising and stressful, especially with the wedding just 10 days away.
The Challenge Ahead
Given the current two-month waiting time for expedited passports, the timing couldn't be worse. They were supposed to leave for Italy that very Friday. Despite the setback, the couple remains hopeful. "We're trying to stay optimistic and really hope everything works out," they shared.
Chickie's Motive
One can't help but wonder why Chickie, their one-and-a-half-year-old Golden Retriever, would do such a thing. Perhaps she didn't want her beloved owners to leave. "I think she just doesn't want you guys to go," commented one person. Regardless of her reasons, the couple still adores their mischievous pet. "Of course we love her; she's like our baby," they affirmed.
A Glimmer of Hope
In a turn of events, the State Department informed the couple that they might receive the new passport by Wednesday. However, there are NO GUARANTEES. The couple, along with Chickie, waits in anticipation, hoping that they can still make it to their dream wedding in Italy.
Awaiting the Big Day
While the situation is undoubtedly stressful, it's also a testament to the unexpected challenges life can throw our way. Whether it's a mischievous pet or unforeseen circumstances, it's the love and support of our loved ones that help us navigate through. The couple's story serves as a reminder that sometimes, it's the journey, not just the destination, that makes memories UNFORGETTABLE.
