The series draws inspiration from real-life figures and events, with the inaugural season being influenced by the political happenings in India during the 1990s. The second season depicted events from the latter half of 1999. Now, the creators are preparing for the third season of this political drama series.

One of the shared photos showed a crew member holding a clapperboard on the set, while the others featured the cast and crew posing for the camera. For those unfamiliar with the series, Maharani tells the story of a village woman named Rani, chosen by her politician husband Bheema, to run for the position of Bihar's chief minister.

The Inspiration Behind the Maharani Series

Various reports suggest that Maharani is loosely based on the lives of Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi, who shaped Bihar's politics in the 1990s. However, Subash Kapoor has been somewhat reticent about revealing the show's inspirations, choosing instead to fictionalize real-world events. Regardless, the series has successfully depicted the evolution of Rani Bharti (Huma Qureshi) and other characters throughout its run.
